Statistical study of the influence of CNTs purification and plasma functionalization on the properties of Polycarbonate-CNTs nanocomposites
2014
This work reports a statistical study on the relationship between the chemical-physical properties of CNTs, which vary by changing the conditions of purification and plasma treatment, and the macroscopic properties of PC-based nanocomposites. CNTs are synthesized and then purified in two different ways and used as fillers for the preparation of PC/CNTs nanocomposites. In some cases, oxygen plasma treatment is carried out to improve their affinity to the matrix. The CNTs are characterized by TGA, ICP/OES and FT-Raman spectroscopy, titration and morphological analysis. Mechanical, dynamic-mechanical, electrical and morphological tests are used for characterizing PC/CNTs nanocomposites.
Bright Visible Luminescence in Silica Nanoparticles
2011
International audience; We demonstrate that a porous film of silica nanoparticles emits a bright visible luminescence associated with defects stabilized by oxygen chemisorption at oxygen deficient center sites. Time-resolved spectra excited by a tunable laser allow us to distinguish the luminescence at 1.99 eV, characteristic of the nonbridging oxygen hole center (NBOHC) (Si-O)3 Si-O*, and a fast and a slow emission: the first (lifetime τ ≈ 25 ns) is peaked at 2.27 eV with an excitation spectrum centered at 5.5 eV; the second (τ ≈ 7.5 μs) is peaked at 2.41 eV and is excited around 3.2 and 5.2 eV. Reaction in an air atmosphere leads to the disappearance of the NBOHC luminescence and of the …
Interaction en champ proche entre une sonde nanométrique et le champ de composants à cristal photonique:- interaction faible, microscopie spatialemen…
2008
With the improvement of fabrication techniques, the nanophotonics and more especially the photonics crystals which are periodic structure at the Wavelength scale have been recently developed. In this work, by using a scanning near-field optical microscope, we study such components. Firslty, we use the local probe to visualize the light distribution inside photonic crystal microcavities etched into semiconductor III/V. We focus us on the explanation of the near-field maps formation and on the probe influence on these maps. Thus, we have visualize degeneracy splitting of optical cavity modes and clearly observed in near-field cavity modes which were not visible in far-field. Moreover, in the …
Conduction properties of semiconductive multiwalled carbon nanotubes
2022
AbstractWe have undertaken low-temperature conduction measurements on arc-discharge synthesized, semiconducting multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNT). The diameters of these are in the range 2.5–10 nm, corresponding to the sizes just above single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT), up to middle-sized MWNTs. The energy gap, inversely related to the diameter, varies strongly in this range, and consequently there is a strong dependence of the transport on tube diameter. Certain transport characteristics are much alike those found in SWNTs, such as the ON-state resistance and Coulomb blockade. However, the transport gap has a more complex behavior than the corresponding one in semiconducting SWNTs, a…
Second Harmonic Emission From Dielectric Nanoresonators in the Absorption Regime
2023
We study second harmonic generation in dielectric nanocylinders as a function of the wavelength of the incident field and geometrical dimensions. Uncommonly, we consider a spectral range in which the emitted nonlinear signal is partially absorbed by the dielectric. Surprisingly, we reveal that the second harmonic efficiency does not decrease as the imaginary part of the complex dielectric refractive index increases. Indeed, the presence of higher order multipoles supported by the resonators at the fundamental wavelength can significantly boost the generated second harmonic signal even in the dielectric absorption spectral region achieving nonlinear efficiency of the same order of magnitude …
Numerical construction of the density-potential mapping
2018
We demonstrate how a recently developed method Nielsen et al. [Nielsen et al., EPL 101, 33001 (2013)] allows for a comprehensive investigation of time-dependent density functionals in general, and of the exact time-dependent exchange-correlation potential in particular, by presenting the first exact results for two- and three-dimensional multi-electron systems. This method is an explicit realization of the Runge–Gross correspondence, which maps time-dependent densities to their respective potentials, and allows for the exact construction of desired density functionals. We present in detail the numerical requirements that makes this method efficient, stable and precise even for large and rap…
Gaia-ESO Survey: Li-rich stars in NGC2547
2015
The nearby (distance ~350-400pc), rich Vela OB2 association, includes gamma^2^ Velorum, one of the most massive binaries in the solar neighborhood, and is an excellent laboratory for investigating the formation and early evolution of young clusters. Recent Gaia-ESO survey observations led to the discovery of two kinematically distinct populations in the young (10-15Myr) cluster immediately surrounding gamma^2^ Velorum. Here we analyse the results of Gaia-ESO survey observations of NGC 2547, a 35Myr cluster located two degrees south of gamma^2^ Velorum. The radial velocity distribution of lithium-rich pre-main sequence stars shows a secondary population, kinematically distinct and younger th…
Photometry of candidate members of NGC6611
2009
We present the list of candidate members of the young open cluster NGC 6611, selected in a field of view of 33'x34' by the X-rays emission and excesses in infrared bands. X-ray sources without infrared excesses are classified as candidate Class III cluster members; stars with infrared excesses as disk bearing members. uvby{beta} photometry of h and chi Per
2002
We present CCD uvby{beta} photometry for stars in the nuclei of the young double cluster {h} and {chi} Persei. We find that the reddening is highly variable through the {h} Per nucleus, increasing from west to east, with values ranging from E(b-y)=0.328+/-0.022 in the western part to E(b-y)=0.465+/-0.025 in the south-east. Towards {chi} Persei the reddening is fairly constant, with E(b-y)=0.398+/-0.025. Both clusters share a common distance modulus of 11.7+/-0.1mag, and an age of logt=7.10+/-0.05 years. K2 light curve alternative analysis of ASASSN-18bt
2020
On 2018 February 4.41, the All-Sky Automated Survey for SuperNovae (ASAS-SN) discovered ASASSN-18bt in the K2 Campaign 16 field. With a redshift of z=0.01098 and a peak apparent magnitude of B_max_=14.31, ASASSN-18bt is the nearest and brightest Supernovae Ia type (SNe Ia) yet observed by the Kepler spacecraft. Here we present the discovery of ASASSN-18bt, the K2 light curve, and prediscovery data from ASAS-SN and the Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System. The K2 early-time light curve has an unprecedented 30-minute cadence and photometric precision for an SN Ia light curve, and it unambiguously shows a ~4 day nearly linear phase followed by a steeper rise. Thus, ASASSN-18bt joins a…
